Layout and Design

Q: What is the difference between LAYOUT and DESIGN
A: LAYOUT is defined as the process of combining text, images, background and other graphic elements into a visually pleasing arrangement. Fonts, colors and element size are be considered components of layout.

LAYOUT is included in the price of a sign or banner.

DESIGN is the planning, creation and modification of a graphic element.

Design charges are added if new graphic elements is required or if we are recreating an existing graphic element. Custom logos, graphics, fonts or backgrounds are examples of graphic elements.

Design Charges are determined by the time required to plan and create the new graphic element or recreate an existing graphic element.

Q: Can the Sign Store LAYOUT my sign or banner and provide a proof?
A: The Sign Store can help you put together a layout based on your specific requirements.

After your order has been placed, the Sign Store will provide you with a layout proof for your approval. You can make changes to your layout until you are completely satisfied. Production will begin with your approval of the final design.

Q: What sign and banner SIZES does the Sign Store offer?
A: Many signs have standard sizes, such as traffic signs and regulation signs, but the Sign Store will create your sign or banner to fit your exact size requirements.

If you are not sure what size to make your sign, your Sign Store Customer Service Representative can make a recommendation based on your needs.

A: The Sign Store offers thousands of fonts for you to choose from.

Q: What FILE FORMAT does the Sign Store require for my Logo or Graphic?
A: The Sign Store requests a copy of the original design file in its original file format (or an .eps copy) plus a PDF copy of the file.

Q: HOW LONG will it take the Sign Store to COMPLETE my Project?
A: From the time your order has been placed and we have received your final layout approval, most projects take a few days to complete.

Special order materials or complex fabrication will add to the length of time it will take to complete your project. Your Customer Service Representative can give you an approximate completion time for your project.

Q: I'M IN A HURRY? Does the Sign Store offer EXPRESS SERVICE?
A: If you are on a tight schedule, the Sign Store offers EXPRESS SERVICE on many projects. Consult with your Customer Service Representative to determine if Express Service is available on your project.
Q: Can the Sign Store INSTALL my Sign or Banner?
A: The Sign Store can install your sign or Banner. Some installations require a Sign Permit based on the type of sign and the location of the installation.

The Sign Store is Registered with the State of New Mexico as a Licensed, Bonded and Insured Sign Installation Contractor. NM License #371342

Q: Can the Sign Store INSTALL a Sign or Banner that I already own?
A: The Sign Store can install many type of signs, banners and lettering including those that you already own. Some sign installations require a Sign Permit based on the type of sign and the location of the installation.

Q: What BANNER MATERIALS are available from the Sign Store?
A: Banner are made of nylon reinforced vinyl scrim material. Banner material comes in different weights.

Light weight (8oz. / 10oz.) for indoor or promotional use.

Standard weight (13oz. / 14oz.) for general use.

Heavy weight (18oz. / 20oz. / 22oz.) for long term use or high wind durability.

Consult with your Sign Store Customer Service Representative for the best material and finishing options for your banner.

Q: Does my banner come with GROMMETS?
A: Grommets (brass eyelets) for installing with screws, bungee cords, rope or zip ties are included in the price of your banner.

The number grommets is determined by the size of the banner. The grommets are spaced at approximately two foot increments. If you have special spacing requirements for your installation please discuss it with your Customer Service Representative

Q: Does my banner come with WIND-SLITS?
A: Wind-slits can be added to your banner upon request, at a nominal charge.

Wind-slits are the half circles cut into a banner to reduce wind resistance. Discuss the environment and durability requirements of your banner with your Customer Service Representative for material and installation options.

Q: Will my banner hold up to the New Mexico WIND?
A: The Sign Store has many options to strengthen your banner. Extra Grommets, Wind Slits, Heavy Weight Banner Material, Hemmed Edges, Pole Pockets, Banner Clips and Sewn in Rope are finishing options available to strengthen your banner.

Q: How do I CLEAN and MAINTAIN my banner?
A: We recommend a microfiber cloth and light duty general purpose cleaner such as SprayWay or 409 for banners. Roll banners for storage, do not fold them, the creases are permanent.

Vehicle Graphics & Wraps

Q: What is the difference between VEHICLE GRAPHICS and a VEHICLE WRAP?
A: Vehicle Graphics are Individual Letters, Logos and Graphics applied to the vehicle. A vehicle WRAP is a complete vinyl cover of the painted surfaces of the vehicle. A Partial Vehicle wrap is vinyl coverage of a portion of the Vehicle.

The Sign Store offers everything from simple vehicle lettering to full coverage vehicle wraps.

Q: Can the Sign Store Layout my VEHICLE GRAPHIC or WRAP?
A: The Sign Store will work with you to layout a Vehicle Wrap that will turn your vehicle into a mobile billboard. We will provide you with a layout proof for your approval before production begins. Changes can be made to your layout until you are completely satisfied with the final design.

Q: How Long does it take to INSTALL Vehicle Graphics or a Vehicle Wrap?
A: The amount of time it takes to install a vehicle wrap depends on the size of the vehicle and the complexity of the installation. The Sign Store can wrap a portion of a vehicle in a few hours and a full size semi trailer in several days.

Consult with your Sign Store Customer Service Representative to determine how long it will take to wrap your vehicle.

Q: What is the See-thru Graphic Material used to cover vehicle windows called?
A: The see-thru graphic material used to cover vehicle windows is called Perforated Window Vinyl, sometimes referred to as “Window Perf”.

It is used to continue a vehicle wrap design over the windows. The adhesive backed vinyl material is produced with a series of small holes which allows it to be see-thru from the inside of a vehicle. The graphic design is printed on the face of the Perforated Window Vinyl and is visible from the outside of the vehicle.

A: With New Mexico’s scorching sun, intense ultraviolet rays, and low humidity, a vehicle wrap does not last as long as in other climates. UV rays fade the colors and low humidity dries out the adhesives.

A typical NM Vehicle wrap in direct sunlight and exposure to the elements can last two to four years before showing signs of deterioration. Covered vehicle storage will add years to the life of a vehicle wrap.

A: To reduce scratching the sign surface and lettering, we recommend a microfiber cloth and light duty general purpose cleaner such as SprayWay or 409 for most signs and banners.
Q: How do I Clean and Maintain my ACRYLIC (Plexiglas) Sign?
A: To reduce scratching the sign surface and lettering, we recommend a Microfiber cloth and specially formulated Cleaner for Acrylic (Plexiglas) signs.

NOTE: DO NOT use ISOPROPYL ALCOHOL or any Alcohol based cleaner on acrylic. Alcohol causes the edges of acrylic to crack.

NOTE: DO NOT use PAPER TOWELS to clean an Acrylic (Plexiglas) sign. Paper towels will scratch the surface of Acrylic.
